The vice chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape represented by the Deputy vice-chancellor Development, Professor Philip Oguntunde charged the executives to be law abiding and always show to the world that the university is populated by students who are excellent in character and academic excellence. Professor Fuwape advised the executives to take leadership as their Responsibility and have it in mind that after one year it will be over. ‘‘Your peers elected you to serve them, thus, you must serve them with dignity”. He said. The Vice -chancellor, further urged them to define their goals very clearly and make good use of their time both in academics and in serving the people.
Dean, Student Affairs Division, Professor Gbenga Onibi said the election was conducted freely and fairly using the electronic voting mechanism to the admiration of all contestants. He said that electoral process in FUTA is credible and has become a reference point to other universities. The Dean, charged the students to be Law abiding and sustain the peace already established on the campus. He said “Your character and ability to use your God given gift to impact positively will stand you out.”
In his address, the president, Mr. Esedare Abraham appreciated the management and the entire students for the privilege given and the trust reposed in his team to serve this great institution.
He said his team will harness the unity, strength and intellectual prowess of the students force to chart a progressive course for the union. Mr. Esedere, who described the hallmark of his campaign as integrity, said this shall remain the guiding principle of his administration which will focus on establishing a union, where all elected executives and the Judiciary work together to provide for the welfare of the generality of the students.
Thereafter, all the new executives took the oath of office.
